Memorial Day observance set for state veterans' cemetery Published May 24, 2011 Wyo. Military Department CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- The Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery will host the Natrona County United Veterans Council's Memorial Day Ceremony, at 11 a.m., May 30, on the cemetery grounds, in Evansville. Gov. Matt Mead will give the keynote address following a Tribute to Departed Comrades given by Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh. The Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery was established through the cooperative efforts of the state of Wyoming and the U.S. Veterans Affairs Cemetery System. Any veteran who received a discharge other than dishonorable from the U.S. Armed Forces is eligible for burial in the cemetery. "We are proud to pay homage on the one day of the year set aside for the nation to get together to remember, reflect and honor those who have given their all in service to their country," said Burt Widmer, cemetery director.
