New Wyo. National Guard adjutant general assumes command

Col. K. Luke Reiner will assume command of the Wyoming National Guard on April 1, at 2 p.m., at Little America, in Cheyenne. Reiner, who will be federally recognized as a brigadier general and will be brevetted to the rank of major general, will assume the duties of the adjutant general, from Maj. Gen. Ed Wright.

Wright will retire in a ceremony immediately following the Change of Command, he served as Wyoming's adjutant general for eight years.

"This has been an amazing eight years marked by growth and change, I am proud to have served as Wyoming's adjutant general," said Wright. "I am confident the Wyoming Military Department will continue to make great strides under Col. Reiner's leadership."

Reiner most recently served as the chief of the joint staff at the Joint Force Headquarters, in Cheyenne. Before that assignment, he was the commander of the 115th Field Artillery Brigade.

"I am humbled and honored by this opportunity and look forward to continuing to serve with that 1 percent of this nation who wears a combat uniform.," Reiner said.
