Gov. Dave Freudenthal, at the request of Maj. Gen. Ed Wright, has proclaimed May 1, 2010, as "Silver Star Banner Day" to express appreciation for all the families in Wyoming, and the nation, who continue to remind people of the sacrifices our military personnel make.

As of April, 29, 2008, an estimated 31,848 military personnel have been wounded in conflicts around the globe.

"A number of military members from Wyoming have been injured since the Twin Towers fell in 2001, many others have paid the ultimate sacrifice," Wright, Wyoming's adjutant general, said. "It is important all of us remember these American heroes, and their families."
