Col. Dennis Grunstad assumed command of the 153rd Airlift Wing Dec. 6 in a ceremony attended by hundreds of Airmen.

Grunstad has served as vice commander under Col. Harold Reed. Reed relinquished command after five and a half years.

"Don't let anyone tell you you're not the best Wing in the world," he told the assembled group. "You are."

Grunstad echoed Reed's comments "The bar has been set pretty high, but we can go higher."

Grunstad joined the 153rd Airlift Wing in 1991 as a line pilot. He has deployed multiple times for the GWOT.

As a traditional Guardsman, Grunstad is employed by American Airlines. He has taken a leave of absence from his civilian employer to concentrate on his new duties as Wing commander.
