Wyoming Guard members recognized as outstanding

Members of the Wyoming National Guard were recognized for their outstanding service during 2017 at the Outstanding Solider and Airman of the Year banquet, Saturday.

The following individuals were recognized for their leadership, military bearing, knowledge of military customs, community service and personal achievements.

Spc. Wyatt Schiermeyer, 133rd Engineer Company, from Geneva, Nebraska, Soldier of the Year.

Sgt. Jon Pratt, 115th Field Artillery Brigade, from Cheyenne, Army Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

Senior Airman Mason Bicandi, 153rd Security Forces Squadron, Airman of the Year, is from Fort Collins, Colorado.

Tech. Sgt. Kevin Delgado, 153rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, from Cheyenne, Air Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

Master Sgt. Thor Rasmussen, 153rd Mission Support Group, from Laramie, First Sergeant of the Year.

Master Sgt. Zachary Austin, 153rd Airlift Wing, Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, is from Cheyenne.

Capt. Jacque Stonum, 153rd Force Support Squadron, from Cheyenne, Air Company Grade Officer of the Year.

Senior Airman Ruth Bowen, 187th Airlift Squadron, Rising Six Performer of the Year, is from Denver, Colorado.

Tech. Sgt. Mike Palmer, 153rd Force Support Squadron, was named Production Recruiter and Retainer of the Year for the Wyoming Air National Guard. He is from Cheyenne. Tech. Sgt. Brandon Rodriguez, 153rd Force Support Squadron, from Cheyenne, was named Rookie Production Recruiter and Retainer of the Year for the Wyoming Air National Guard.

Sgt. 1st Class Aaron Benson, from Casper, was named Recruiter of the Year for the Wyoming Army National Guard. Sgt. 1st Class Samuel Bloom, of Cheyenne, was chosen as Army Recruiting’s Automation NCO of the Year and Capt. Christopher Kopf, of Cheyenne, was chosen as the Army’s Officer Recruiter of the Year. These awards recognize recruiters who continues to go above and beyond and whose individual efforts and support have been a contributing factor in this organization’s ability to meet its missions.

Master Sgt. Eric Farmer, 153rd Communications Flight, was named as the Flag Heritage Team Member of the Year. Farmer is from Cheyenne. This award is a symbol of the extreme amount of volunteerism and underlying commitment a Flag Team member must possess.

The Chiefs Council Core Value Award recognizes the junior enlisted members of the Wyoming Air National Guard who best represent the Air Force/Air National Guard Core Values. The following individuals were named as Chiefs Council Core Value and Award recipients:
